Marketing

  • Established marketing calendar and brand guidelines for customer segments including: holidays, umrah & hajj, business travel, and wholesale
  • Ran joint promotions with Abn Amro (now Faysal Bank), UBL, Standard Chartered Bank, and Meezan Bank. Communication included print, radio, outdoor and digital campaigns
  • Organized promotional items, giveaways, and other collateral on a need basis
  • Sponsored sporting events such as golf tournaments for Japanese expats and cricket tournaments involving corporate teams from within the travel industry
  • Conducted training workshops for Hajj pilgrims

Sales

  • Fulfilled RFPs for business travel services and worked with the sales team to win the business
  • Developed areas to improve customer profitability by capturing crosssell/upsell opportunities
  • Routinely conducted research and analysis to develop sales pipeline targets for the wholesale segment
  • Established sales kit and documentation processes for customer on-boarding
  • Sat in on crisis scenarios and learned how to trouble shoot in real time under time pressures

Operations

  • Worked with Grant Thornton to conduct business process improvement documentation (policies, SOPs, etc) and adoption of re-engineered processes where required
  • Supported customer service teams (nationwide) in resolving hurdles that cost time and money
  • Created & sold seasonal holiday packages for high traffic destinations such as UAE, Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore
  • Played the role of tour manager/guide for MICE groups. Most notable being a group of 180 dealers of Philips Pakistan travelling through Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris & Istanbul
  • Worked with process experts to establish an independently functioning visa facilitation services within the organization
  • Contributed to Umrah and Hajj operations (visa processing, hotel & transport purchase, etc); most notable being my involvement in a 30 day on-ground group management and logistics for a group of 450 people pilgrims performing Hajj in 2008

Technology

  • Built entire IT function from the ground up; creating a 5 person help desk that supported a 7 city network via a centralized data center including a voip network
  • Supported key stakeholders in adopting function-specific applications such as HRM and CRM tools, a highly customized local market back office solution, and an inhouse built visa content management solution
  • Managed the transfer of a phone user network of 180 people from wired switchboard to a nationwide voip-based solution; creating tools like free city-to-city extension calling, voice recording, IVR, etc

Accounts & Finance

  • Mapped and improved accounting processes from data entry to receivable/payable processing management
  • Worked with key stakeholders to develop business intelligence reports for PnL, PLB, collection & recovery and sales
  • Participated in budgetary planning exercises and cost cutting initiatives

Human Resource Management

  • In a high growth environment, played several roles in hiring, counselling, and terminating staff
  • Involved in the process of rightsize planning and nationwide execution over a period of 3 weeks of about 40 staff during the financing crisis
  • Assisted in researching and planning several employee benefit programs such as pick & drop service, health insurance, and other incentive programs
